I didn't mind Valentine's Day, and I'm probably the only critic willing to admit that; Jamie Foxx and Ashton Kutcher were predictably awful, but it was a sweet enough affair to pass the time. Regardless, they're making another one (...of sorts).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robert De Niro, Lea Michelle (Glee), Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer and *sighs* Ashton Kutcher are all in talks for New Year's Eve, which director Garry Marshall (an absolute gent) will return to helm. The film follows a similar plot of ponderous sorts, wondering about love and life just as the clock is about to dong on New Years. De Niro apparently plays a dying man in the hospital, Swank the producer of New York's end of year shindig, Pfeiffer a pissed off PA, and Kutcher a cynical sort who doesn't like the holidays. Bah humbug. No word on Lea Michelle's part as of yet.

The cast are mostly an established lot and not just plain pretty, and the plot (or De Niro's strand at least) sounds like it has a bit more weight. Expect more starry names to sign on...
