You have to give credit to David Hasselhoff - he's managed to spin a TV show that ran for four seasons into a continuing pop-culture phenomenon.

In a brief interview with THR, the Hoff talked about - you guessed it - Knight Rider and its enduring appeal, but also brought an interesting tidbit of information. Namely, that he's spoken to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 director James Gunn about a possible reboot.

"I’ve given some ideas to James (Gunn) for Knight Rider, and he responded in a big way. If it does go forward, I don’t want it to be spoofed like Baywatch or 21 Jump Street. Those films lose what it’s about, and you have to respect the fans," said Hasselhoff.

Considering how 21 Jump Street was a huge success and lampooned its format, whereas Baywatch tried to adapt it relatively po-faced, there's little point in seeing a straight remake of Knight Rider.

Not only that, the TV show itself has aged horribly and the idea of a talking car nowadays isn't all that exciting or engaging, so how do you take it on other than to make fun of it?
