Fresh from debuting a stunning trailer for his take on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, David Fincher's Panic Pictures production company has just optioned Jason Starr’s novel Panic Attack, reports Vulture.

The novel is apparently extremely dark in tone and centres on "a New York psychiatrist who shoots and kills a home intruder, then faces a media frenzy and the victim's vengeful accomplice."

Fincher was nominated for his second Oscar for The Social Network, but inexplicably lost out to Tom Hooper for The King's Speech. He seems to be firmly going back to his Seven routes with this and 'Tattoo' as projects being mentioned alongside his name. Reaction to the idiots at The Academy of Motion Pictures and Arts? Maybe
