Con Air and (more recently) The Mechanic director Simon West has signed on to direct a sequel to The Expendables.

Sylvester Stallone has been announced to be returning, but so far, no other cast members have signed on. That means Jason Statham (who worked with West on The Mechanic) has yet to Herbie Hancock on the dotted line, and he was basically the star last time - with Stallone distracted with directing stuff an all. It's still likely the core cast will come back, maybe with more added 80s muscle this time - Segal, Van Damme etc. What about UFC Fighter Forrest Griffin? Someone give that guy a role, he's hilarious.

Thought the first film had its moments but was actually nonsensical at points - I still can't figure out one thing Dolph Lundgren said.
