Sure enough, the post-True Detective career surge has kicked in for all the main actors concerned.

Rachel McAdams is reportedly close to signing on to join Marvel's Doctor Strange with Benedict Cumberbatch whilst Vince Vaughn will be joining Mel Gibson's first directorial effort in quite a few years.

Now, Farrell has Fantastic Beasts (And Where To Find Them), the spin-off movie from the Harry Potter series.

Farrell's role will be that of Graves, a wizard whom Newt Scamander - played by Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne - meets in New York of all places.

It's a far cry from Ballykissangel, we can tell you, but Farrell should fit right in here as he previously turned up in fantasy adventures such as The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, the animated Epic and eh... Daredevil, we guess.

As we mentioned, Farrell joins Eddie Redmayne in the cast, as well as Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol.
