Colin Farrell is in negotiations to join Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson in The Blind Side director John Lee Hancock's new biopic, Saving Mr. Banks.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Farrell is in talks to play the man who was the basis for the real life father in Mary Poppins. More specifically, the film is about Poppins writer P.L. Travers, who based the book on some very personal aspects of her own family life. Hanks is set to play Walt Disney, who pursued her for the rights to the film, while Thompson will play Travers - who was apparently extremely unhappy with the finished production. The film will flashback to the early 1900's from the 1960's.

Sounds like a fascinating story, and it's an interesting role for Farrell who's never really played anyone like this before.
