So all week we've been discussing the possibility of an Alex Ferguson biopic. The general reaction to his departure from Man U has been largely positive, with more people coming out to pass praiseworthy comments than anything else. So we reckon a movie centred on his life would go down well.

But what about a movie based on 25 year old Barcelona/Argentina player Lionel Messi? He did win the last four FIFA Ballon d'Or awards (which confirm his status as one of the best players in the world. Like ever. Agree?), so we're sure there's more than enough material in there to keep things interesting. And it's not just a straight up telling of events, rumour has it this movie will be similar in style to the Rocky franchise. But perhaps with an Argentinian twist. Feelin' it?

As per Variety, Epic Pictures Group have just acquired the rights to the biography "Messi: The Inside Story of the Boy Who Became a Legend" by Luca Caioli.

When can you expect this theatrical debut? Sometime around next year's World Cup, which makes perfect sense. Soccer fans the world over will be looking for any opportunity to chow down on some uplifting, soccer-themed entertainment, making for a wholly enjoyable tournament-watching experience.

So a biopic at the tender age of 25; not too shabby, he must be doing something right.

"The goal is to make a powerful and positive film that will leave audiences feeling inspired to go after their dreams no matter how impossible they may seem," said producer Ewald. It is said to focus on the story of a young boy from humble beginnings who overcame what many would consider physical disadvantages (he stands at 5'7") to become one of the greatest players the world has ever seen.

Who else would you like to see on the big screen? And who would you like to see play Mr Messi?
