Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell are to star in a comedy version of Sherlock Holmes, with Cohen playing Holmes and Ferrell playing his loyal sidekick Watson. Columbia Pictures are funding the flick and head honcho Matt Tolmach spewed "Just the idea of Sacha and Will as Sherlock Holmes and Watson makes us laugh" before adding "Sacha and Will are two of the funniest and most talented guys on the planet, and having them take on these two iconic characters is frankly hilarious." As those of you with a functioning memory may recall, Guy Ritchie has signed on to direct a serious version of the old school crime solver for Warner Brothers. Just how the news that two heavy weight comedy actors are headlining their own version will affect his production is unknown. Anchorman and Talladega Nights director Adam McKay is being linked with the film, although nothing has been confirmed as to his involvement yet. His latest flick, Step Brothers, stars Ferrell and John C Reilly and is released in America in a couple of weeks. Cohen is currently working on Bruno, about the gay German fashion designer.
