Philip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti have reportedly signed on for George Clooney's next directorial effort, Farragut North, according to New York Magazine, Vulture.

The film is based on Beau Willimon's experiences working on the Domocratic nominee for President of the United States, during the 2004 election. The central character is Stephen Myers, a political manipulator who regularly used dirty tactics to bag a candidate a nomination. Leonardo DiCaprio was attached to the part of Myers at one point, but it now looks likely to be played by Chris Pine - who portrayed the character in an off-Broadway play.

Hoffman will play Myers' boss, while Giamatti will be an opposite political strategist. Evan Rachel Wood and Marisa Tomei are also being linked with roles.
