Reinforcing the idea that Hollywood in fact, ran out of ideas a long time ago, producer Neal Moritz has been waxing lyrical at Cannes about his latest "brainwave", a reboot of Cliffhanger. Empire is quoting him as saying: "Just as they rebooted Star Trek, we're going to reboot Cliffhanger." That makes no sense, whatsoever. Star Trek was a franchise, Cliffhanger was one film, with Sylvester Stallone hanging off sound stages doubling as the Colorado Rockies - how on earth would they turn it into a franchise? Well, see, they're basically just going to use the name of the film, and make it about a bunch of climbers, but this time have them all young and hot like. A bit like Vertical Limit a while back, then, which was crap. No word on a director as of yet...
