Four Christmases was once again the top film at the North American box office, as the week's only new wide release Punisher: War Zone tanked. The Vince Vaughn/Reese Witherspoon comedy showed strong legs as it coined another $18.1 million, taking its toll to $71 million. War Zone was met with a muted response from fans, as it became one of the biggest flops in Marvel history, coining a paltry $4 million, to the first films $14 million - which was then seen as a disappointment. Actually, the first Punisher is good fun and Thomas Jane is deadly (in more ways than one), so reinventing it was never a good idea.  Also, giving it to the director of the awful Green Street probably wasn't such a great idea, either.
