Production on the upcoming film Jack Ryan has officially commenced.
Paramount Pictures and Skydance prodcutions announced today that production on started on the film which will be directed by Kenneth Brannagh and stars Chris Pine, Kiera Knightley and Kevin Costner. The film will be shooting across three locations New York, Moscow and London.
Jack Ryan is a modern action thriller and follows character Jack Ryan who was created by best selling author Tom Clancy as he uncovers a financial terrorist plot.
Keira Knightley has spoke out about her role on the film saying she was attracted to the role by the opportunity to work with Kenneth Branagh 'I’m working with Kenneth Branagh who has been a hero of mine since I was about 6 or 7,' she said. 'Getting to be directed by him and act with him is something that I just thought, ‘I want to do that. Branagh not only directs the film but will also play the films villain.
Knightley has not starred in an action flick since Pirates and felt it was about time she made a thriller. 'I thought, ‘I think I’d quite like to do something that’s just entertainment' says the star. 'Not just entertainment, but entertainment in that kind of Hollywood sort of run-around with explosions.'
'I’ve always loved thrillers,' she added. 'Thrillers are incredibly difficult to do which is why there’s so few of them made now, and [the Jack Ryan films] have always been really good thrillers, so I sort of fancied that'
Jack Ryan will be released on 26th December 2013.
