Channing Tatum is being circled for the lead role in The Man From U.N.C.L.E, as he's currently working with director Steven Soderbergh on the male stripper flick, Magic Mike, which is loosely based on his life.

According to Deadline, Tatum is being considered after George Clooney pulled out of the film, and Bradley Cooper failed to replace him - despite his agents lobbying for the part. It would be the third time for Tatum to work with Soderbergh, as he also has a small part in the Irish shot action flick, Haywire. The G.I. Joe star is being linked with a lot of big parts, including that of Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz in Bennett Miller’s drama Foxcatcher. Miller just worked with Brad Pitt on the excellent Moneyball.

Haywire looks ace, and is released in Ireland in January.
