Chinese New Year is just around the corner and in Dublin the community will be gathering for a ten day celebration from February 8th to 18th.

While we're ringing in the Year of the Snake there'll be a great big Chinese New Year Film Festival running in the capital, celebrating Chinese cinema though a variety of themes and genres. It'll be a great opportunity for Irish audiences to get a taste of the fascinating world of Chinese culture, from the ancient and historical to the modern.

There's a great lineup, with highlights including the Chinese version of Dangerous Liaisons, set in 1930's Shanghai. And if you love your martial arts then you'll want to check out Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Fung's slick, stylish pop-art take on the life of Yang-lu Chan (played by new martial-arts sensation Yuan Xiaochao), founder of the Yang School of Tai Chi.
