The planned biopic of Freddie Mercury is getting in trouble already. It was reported some time ago that Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen had left the production over issues with the tone of the film. Apparently, the producers of the film are trying to make a more family-friendly film whereas Cohen had signed on believing it was going to be a more realistic take on the singer's life.

According to the Daily Star, Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, has been offered the role. There's no word as yet if he's going to take, but they're hopeful he will. Radcliffe's next film, Horns, is due out in Ireland sometime before the end of the year and has been getting some pretty great reviews in festivals so far.

From the stories that are known and probably not known about Freddie Mercury and Queen, we think it's crazy to believe that they'd be able to make a "family-friendly" film out of Mercury's life. They'd have to cut out entire sections of his story, not to mention neuter any kind of credibility the film would have in the first place. So why bother doing a half-assed job?
