Just when we were starting to think she was about to live a quiet life as Mrs. Ryan Reynolds, it's been announced that Blake Lively will take the starring role in The Age of Adaline. Co-starring Ellen Burstyn, the film follows Adaline, a 29-year-old woman who stops ageing after almost being killed in an accident.

The poor, little youthful-looking girl then travels the world feeling sorry for herself until she has an encounter that will change her moping ways forever.

Katherine Heigl was originally attached to the project, which has had quite a rocky development. It now has a director on board, Celeste and Jesse Forever's Lee Toland Krieger (hmm, interesting) and so it looks as though it will go ahead.

The actress best known for her role as Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl hasn't been seen on the silver screen since disaster movie, sorry disaster of a movie, Savages. We'll give her a chance on this one and if it doesn't work out, well, she can go live a quiet life as Mrs. Ryan Reynolds.
