It turns out Ryan Reynolds isn't the only one to bomb during their audition for the Coen Brothers.

Last week the Deadpool star revealed to Taraji P. Henson that he auditioned for Inside Llewyn Davis and in his own words "failed."

"It wasn't the right fit unfortunately" Reynolds concluded.

Now it's Casey Affleck's turn to share his experience of auditioning for the same movie. During a recent episode of "WTF with Marc Maron", Affleck told the host that he was so desperate to work with the Coens that he lied about being able to sing and play guitar.

“The guy had to sing. He had to sing really, really well,” he says. “The director said, ‘We have to have someone who can really sing and play the guitar.’ I said, ‘Yeah, I can do it.’ I knew I was fucked. When I way saying the words, I knew I couldn’t do it. I said, ‘Are you kidding me? I’ve been playing the guitar for years. I can sing.’ I thought it can’t be that hard. I’m going to learn a couple songs. So I went and spent a couple weeks killing myself to sing and play the guitar.”

Despite the considerable effort he made, Affleck of course didn't get the part. In fact he didn't get anything back from the Coens after he sent them a tape.

“it was like crickets. They didn’t even respond it was so bad.”

The bad audition didn't deter Affleck from enjoying the film though. He heaped praise on Oscar Isaac's performance and revealed that he could watch the movie over and over again. However he doesn't think he'll get another chance to work with the Coens again.

“I sat in a room with them and looked them in the eye and told them I could sing and play the guitar. It’s probably the last time I’ll ever talk to those two guys.”
