'Captain Marvel' and 'Thor Ragnarok' would appear to have no obvious connection in the MCU.

Origin story 'Captain Marvel' is set in the 90s while threequel 'Thor Ragnarok' is in the present day. They follow totally different characters, seeming to only have their ties to the MCU in common.

Oh, and they're both set in space.

However, it turns out there was going to be a link between them (fan servicing rarely loses out) thanks to that offering that Marvel fans love - a post credits scene.

One of Captain Marvel's directors, Ryan Fleck, told Empire:

"There was an idea on the table about having Jude Law […] emerge from his pod on Sakaar, and then have him look around and see the Devil's Anus behind him and wonder, 'Where the hell am I?'"

In case you need a refresher, Sakaar is the junk planet that Thor and Hulk become stranded on.

'Captain Marvel' recently had a fantastic opening weekend at the box office. It made $153 (€136) million in North America, and $302 (€268) million overseas. It's the biggest opening weekend for a female-led movie ever.
