Nicolas Cage is getting some of the best reviews of his career for unconventional sequel, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. Helmed by Werner Herzog, it was never going to be conventional fare, and while some are calling it Herzog's most mainstream effort to date, this is still, apparently, offbeat stuff. According to The Hollywood Reporter it is an "Original, offbeat and rewarding cop story with Nicolas Cage in great form," while the brilliant Emanuel Levy stated "the main reason to see it is Nicolas Cage's wildly eccentric, justifiably over-the-top performance." Cage has been taking a lot of stick lately, being that he's made too many overtly commercial flops; but it sounds like this could be the kick in the arse his career needs, while the much buzzed about Kick Ass is also just around the corner.
