King Arthur and Training Day director Antoine Fuqua is in negotiations to direct burly Scottish sort, Gerard Butler, in an adaptation of the comic, Afterburn.

According to Deadline.com, the Butler will stop starring in shite romantic comedies for a couple more productions, while he finishes work on the Marc Foster directed Machine Gun Preacher and Coriolanu. Both sound considerably better that The Bounty Hunter, and The Ugly Truth, where he played the same character, more or less, as he did in The Bounty Hunter. The plot centres on what happens when a "solar flare burns half the surface of a planet, and treasure hunters return to retrieve what's left of value." Butler will play a mercenary.

Fuqua last helmed the decent Brooklyn's Finest, but is yet to scale the lofty heights of Training Day again and break out of the poor man's Michael Bay tag, some critics have labelled him with.
