Mel Gibson disappears for a few years, and then all of a sudden he's popping up everywhere. I wrote a piece yesterday on how he was planning to direct Leonardo DiCaprio in an untitled Viking epic, while he's also signed up for Jodie Foster film The Beaver, and wrapped thriller Edge of Darkness.

Next, though, Gibson will star in How I Spent My Summer Vacation. Described as an action/drama, it was written by the Aussie star, but will be directed by Adrian Grunberg, who was Gibson's assistant director. The plot sees Gibson playing a career criminal who bonds with a nine year old boy while trapped in a Mexican prison.

He's really throwing himself into his work after a long time off, and say what you want about the man's personal life, he knows how to act and direct. Edge of Darkness will be out next year, while The Beaver is yet to get a release date.
