Pierce Brosnan and Uma Thurman will play gods in Chris Columbus' latest bash at avoiding the mediocre, Percy Jackson, which is about the shenanigans Greek God Poseidon’s 12 year-old half-human son gets in to. Logan Lerman (3:10 To Yuma) is to play the little tyke, whilst Brosnan's Goldeneye co-star Sean Bean will also pop up in a supporting role, as will Kevin McKidd. The film is based on the series of novels Percy Jackson & The Olympians, which are aimed firmly at the youngsters, and have been bestsellers... apparently. I am not a fan of Chris Columbus as a director, but have mucho respect for him as a screenwriter (Gremlins, The Goonies). He directed incredibly basic adaptations of the first two Harry Potter books, and handles any sentimentality during his films with the subtly of a stiletto to the crotch. This film is ready to roll and will have a release date in 2010.
