Tim Burton and Josh Brolin are reportedly teaming for a film adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic 1831 novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is in the very early stages but would have Brolin starring as the aesthetically challenged sort with a dodgy back. For those that don’t know, the story follows Quasimodo, a deformed and hunchbacked bell-ringer of the Norte Dame cathedral who tragically falls in love with beautiful gypsy named Esmerelda.

I'm not a fan of Burton. I think he's a talented director who is too stringently attached to his gothic sensibilities - resulting in basically the same film being made over and over. This sounds just like that, but y'know, with Brolin instead of Johnny Depp. I liked Big Fish, mind.
