The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 continued to top the American box-office, and has now passed $235 million at North American cinemas.

The blockbuster sequel has grossed a stunning $588 million worldwide and counting. There were no new films released wide this weekend, but critical darling Shame, starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan, had a huge per theatre average after bowing on ten screens. Steve McQueen’s follow up to Hunger took in over $361,181 - $36,118 per screen. Given the “dreaded” NC-17 rating it received, the controversial drama wasn’t exactly expected to set tills ringing; but strong reviews will surely give it legs.
