Ridley Scott was confirmed to be reteaming with Irish actor Michael Fassbender in the Cormac McCarthy penned, The Counselor, recently and now they've just added a female lead and a bunch of other stars.

According to Deadline.com, Penelope Cruz will join the production in an as yet unconfirmed role. Deadline are also claiming that Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem and Cameron Diaz will appear in the film about a lawyer who thinks he can dabble in the world of drug smuggling. Sounds a bit like Layer Cake (which I loved), but apparently the script for this - the first one McCarthy has ever written directly for the screen - is superb. Pitt, who stars opposite Fassbender in the upcoming Twelve Years a Slave, will reportedly portray the villain.

Production on The Counselor is due to begin very shortly. With this kind of talent involved can they go wrong?
