Proving to be one of the most consistent filmmakers working today, even at 80 years of age, Clint Eastwood as signed on to direct Beyonce in a remake of A Star Is Born.

According to Deadline.com, Eastwood will begin work on the film as soon as he's finished directing Leonardo DiCaprio in the J Edgar Hoover biopic. The story will more than likely be set in the music industry and not the movie business - unlike the most recent Barbara Streisand version from the 70s. Russell Crowe has previously been linked to the male lead, but names like Jon Hamm and Will Smith have also been thrown around.

Release is scheduled for sometime in mid-late 2012. Already an Oscar contender even before the scripts even finished!? Yep.
