At long last, has Benedict Cumberbatch's Star Trek: Into Darkness villain been revealed? In a new pic for the most anticipated of movie reveals in yonks, Cumerbatch's character has been shown. The latest in the long line of drip-fed sneek peaks shows Chris Pine's Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto's Spock and Cumberbatch as a character called John Harrison.

Confirmed by Paramount Pictures, they say: "(Left to right) Zachary Quinto is Spock, Benedict Cumberbatch is John Harrison and Chris Pine is Kirk in Star Trek Into Darkness from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions."

Now I'm no Trekky, and while I'm a fan of Cumberbatch I wouldn't quite consider myself a Cumberbitch, but am I wrong to say 'who the f*ck is John Harrison?' He's no Khan, that's for sure. What's Mr Harrison's beef with Starfleet? Hardly the most menacing of names is it? But perhaps this just a ruse to conceal his true idendity. So maybe he'll still end up being Khan after all? Much like Miranda Tate in The Dark Knight Rises turned out to be Talia al Ghul. So many possibilities.. *head explodes*.

We can expect a full length trailer come December 17th so perhaps we'll be a bit clearer on Cumberbatch's exact role by then. Speaking of his character, whoever in God's name he may be, Cumberbatch said: "He is very ruthless… He is not a clearly good or evil character. He is a villain but the action he takes has intent and reason."
