As we reported yesterday, the box office figures for Beauty and the Beast are nothing short of incredible - and it can add another record to its already impressive tally.

Beauty and the Beast had the highest three-day box office figures in Irish history, scoring €2.2 million on its opening weekend in Irish cinemas alone. Figures also show that the film had the biggest Disney live-action opening of all time, the biggest March opening weekend of all time and the biggest opening weekend of 2017 so far.

It also had the biggest opening for a PG film in a three-day weekend and is on track to score $350 million globally. The film also recouped its production budget of $160 million from the US box office alone, with $10 million left over.

Who'd have a thought a musical with one of the most well-known actors in the world from a critically-acclaimed animated film would have done so well?
