JDIFF is but a couple of days from launching its 2011 calendar, with the festival bowing this Thursday with Richard Ayoade's anticipated, Submarine.

There are tickets still available for a bunch of films, and if you head on over here you can purchase them right from your very favourite website (us, in case you were wondering). A personal highlight for me will be Frank Berry's intriguing sounding documentary Ballymun Lullaby. Frank has only just completed the film, capturing passionate and charming music teacher Ron Cooney's attempts to expand free music lessons in a community with little access to free education. Ron has seen one recorder lesson blossom into a full orchestra, with the subsequent nationwide release of an album.

The film screens in Cineworld this Saturday, the 19th, at 6.30pm with Frank in attendance to answer any questions the audience may have afterwards.
