The box office records for Ireland appeared to have been dusted this weekend, thanks to 'Avengers: Endgame' and its insane opening weekend.

As reported, it's already cleared $1 billion in the space of a single weekend and will likely top out as the highest-grossing movie of all time before its run has finished at cinemas. Here in Ireland, it's already looking likely to do the same.

'Avengers: Endgame' had the biggest opening day at the Irish box office in history. Across the UK and Ireland, the movie made €50.22 million in one single day at the cinema. Across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, it cleared €4.46 million across its first weekend.

All indications so far seem to suggest that it will top out as the highest-grossing movie EVER in Ireland by the end of its run, beating the record previously held by 'Beauty and the Beast'. That movie made €5,313,205 during its run at the box office - so 'Avengers: Endgame' needs to make €854,000 to beat that record.

Keep in mind, 'Avengers: Endgame' made that amount in one weekend - 'Beauty and the Beast' had a full run at the box office
