Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed he didn't want to use the iconic phrase 'I'll be back' in the first Terminator film which led to a blazing row with Director James Cameron.

In his recently released autobiography Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story the Austrian actor admitted he was not overly keen on the phrase and felt it was 'too feminine' and was concerned how it sounded in his austrian accent.

Schwarzenegger revealed while working with Cameron on The Terminator this led to a lot of arguments saying 'Our biggest disagreement was about 'I'll be back',I was arguing for 'I will be back'. I felt that the line would sound more machine-like and menacing without the contraction.'

Let's stick with I'll,' he said. 'But I wasn't ready to let it go, and we went back and forth. Finally Jim yelled, 'Look, just trust me okay? I don't tell you how to act, and you don't tell me how to write.'

The Expendables star was eventually talked around to the line 'It sounds really weird when I say it with my accent but he said, 'I don't care, let's just say it ten different ways and then one will work. And so that's what we did'. Just aswell as it has become one of the most iconic catchphrases of all time and he has repeated it in several movies since including the Terminator sequels, Commando and The Expendables 2.
