As perhaps one of the most anticipated movies since LOTR, with the recent release of both its trailer and posters, The Hobbit is creating quite the buzz in movie circles. Andy Serkis who we know as Gollum from the Lord of the Rings, not only reprises his role here as the funny looking little dude with a liking for all things precious (a character that "has never really left him"), but he also directs. Peter Jackson who will helm the forthcoming trilogy actually asked Serkis to take the lead on the film's second unit.

Speaking to the lovely folk over at Digital Spy, Serkis made the following comments on his new and exciting role: "It's an area that I've been gradually moving towards over the last two years...[Peter's] known for a long time I wanted to direct, and I was thrilled to be asked... It was an extraordinary challenge, 200 days of shooting, masses and masses of really exciting things going on. It was wonderful."
