Anne Hathaway has been announced in a Warner Bros. release to be the new Catwoman, with the already cast Tom Hardy confirmed as the villain, Bane.

Chris Nolan spewed through written words, "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story." About the hugely in demand Hardy the Inception director added, "I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies." The release never mentions Catwoman, but instead refers to her in her daylight guise of Selina Kyle; calm down, I'm sure there will still be a catsuit.

Other actresses being considered were apparently Jessica Biel and Keira Knightley. Sex appeal is obviously a huge part of the casting, but there's a real physicality involved with Catwoman as a hero and Biel would've nailed that end of the role. Anyhow, Hathaway is a solid actress, just not who I would've seen in the part. I'm sure Nolan has something up his sleeve, though. We will of course see her presenting the Oscars with James Franco next month.
