Rovio, the Finnish company behind the Angry Birds games, are reportedly making a second Angry Birds movie.

The original film, which was released in cinemas earlier this year, was made on a budget of $73 million. It grossed $347 million in the box office globally, making it the second highest grossing video game movie of all time.

According to Variety, Rovio CEO Kati Levoranta said: ‘With the excellent performance of our games portfolio and the fantastic movie, the Angry Birds brand is flying high and we are seeing positive EBIT and cash flow development, while fulfilling our mission to create world class entertainment.

‘We currently have several exciting new games and other projects in development, including new IP, and we have started planning the sequel to ‘The Angry Birds Movie.’’

No other details have been revealed about the new flick.

The first Angry Birds Movie was directed by Clay Kaytis and Irishman Fergal Reilly. We do like to see our lads do well so here’s hoping he’s back for the sequel.
