Andre 3000 has been confirmed to shoot a Jimi Hendrix biopic in Ireland for at least six weeks.

Steve Cummins of IFTN.ie broke the cool story a day or two ago, and according to him the project is currently in pre-production in Wicklow, with principal photography set to begin in three weeks time in Dublin and Wicklow. Richard Kelly’s Darko Entertainment are on board to produce it, as are Dublin-based production company Subotica Entertainment. Screenwriter John Ridley (Three Kings) will make his feature directorial debut with the project. Synopsis via IFTN is as follows "the film will be set in 1966 and 1967 and cover the period in which Hendrix was discovered in a New York club by Rolling Stone guitarist Keith Richard’s then girlfriend Linda Keith. She subsequently introduced Hendrix to manager Chas Chandler who brought Hendrix to London in 1966, where he recorded his debut album ‘Are You Experienced’ and had his first taste of success."

More production work for hardworking Irish crews is always a good thing. Andre is also great casting for the part - aesthetically and musically.
