Arguably Cameron Crowe's best movie, 'Almost Famous' is now being turned into a musical.
Per Rolling Stone (where Crowe was a contributing editor and a big feature in the movie itself), the musical is being penned by composer Tom Kitt and Crowe. Kitt's best work is undoubtedly 'American Idiot', the musical based on the works of Green Day, which went on to win two Tony Awards and won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. No casting has been announced as of yet, and it's not known if others from the original, such as Mark Kozelek of Sun Kil Moon, have been hired to help write the book.
'Almost Famous' received four nominations at the Oscars in 2004, whilst the movie won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) and Kate Hudson picked up a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. Surprisingly, the movie was considered a box office bomb on its release and only gained an audience through DVD sales in later years.
Expect this song to be in the musical somewhere.
