The 2018 Cannes Film Festival is kicking off this week so expect to see a lot more exciting production news over the coming fortnight.

To kick things off, it would seem that a sequel to The Hitman’s Bodyguard is going to be made. The name of it is The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard.

Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson should be back as the leads, and its description in the Cannes market catalogue is definitely reminding us of the cheeky turn-of-phrase of the former: "The Good. The Bad. And The Batshit cray." Salma Hayek is also expected to return. Mind you, casting has yet to be officially confirmed.

The original's director Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3) is also believed to be back for the sequel, as is screenwriter Tom O'Connor.

The movie got a mixed reception from the critics at the time, though we liked it. The box office receipts in any case - $177 million from a $30 million budget - were enough to warrant a sequel.
