The internet has gone a bit mental today with news of Harry Potter director David Yates directing a new Doctor Who movie.

It's a bit of a nothing story, as the helmer is only really saying he'd develop the film for a possible film in two or three years. "We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right," Yates said in a statement picked up by trade paper Variety. "It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena." The reason the interweb is going mental? "Russell T. Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch," Yates spewed (and then probably ducked for cover). Fans are not happy with that, because they love the new version.

Michael Fassbender's name is being thrown around to star. But Michael Fassbender's name is thrown around a lot these days because he's such a good actor and can play anything. It'll be interesting to see how this one develops.
