As today is officially be The Future, we thought it was time we did a serious analysis of where we are as a civilisation compared to Robert Zemeckis' groundbreaking vision of 2015.

Obviously, some things are creepily similar whilst others are less so, but there is some degree of commonality.

Take a look.

7. DeLOREANS ARE STILL RIDICULOUSLY COOL

Granted, they stopped production in 1983 - but who doesn't love a DeLorean? The gull-wings, the brushed steel exterior, the fact they can barely reach 88 miles an hour. They're great. And we still love them.

6. RETRO CAFES ARE A THING NOW

If someone now said, "Oh, they're opening an '80s-inspired cafe in Smithfield / Ranelagh / Shoreditch / trendy urban location", you'd probably think nothing of it. And that's why Back To The Future, Part II is actually a documentary.

5. THIS HAT IS FASHIONABLE

Admit it. If you were in a hipster nightclub, it's entirely possible you'd see someone younger than Back To The Future wearing a hat like this.

4. GRIFF TANNEN'S GANG LOOK LIKE THEY JUST LEFT LONDON FASHION WEEK

In fact, the girl bears a striking resemblance to Miley Cyrus. And Griff Tannen's helmet? So on fleej.

3. HOVERBOARDS ARE ACHINGLY CLOSE TO BE A REALITY

Look, they're obviously not as popular as they are in Back To The Future, Part II. But dammit, they're so close. So, so close.

2. JAWS 19 (IN 3D) COULD VERY EASILY HAPPEN NOWADAYS

Of course it could. We've seen SEVEN Fast & Furious films, TWENTY-FOUR Bond films, who knows how many Marvel films and there's a new Star Wars film on the way. Jaws 19 is entirely possible.

1. ELIJAH IS STILL EIGHT YEARS OLD

Yes, he hasn't aged since 1988. Wood is eight years old.
