If you're off to the cinemas this weekend, there's a good chance you'll be sitting down to watch The Wolf of Wall Street, Martin Scorsese's new film about hedonistic stockbrokers in the early 90's. You will also, no doubt, notice the very talented / beautiful Margot Robbie. She's going to be hah-yuge. Here's why...

5. SHE STARTED OFF ON SOAPS

Like almost all Australian actors = oh yeah, she's an Aussie - she started off working on none other than Ramsay St., aka Neighbours. Playing Donna Freedman, she was featured in a number of storylines. One that gained her a lot of attention was a bisexual kiss she shared with one of her female co-stars. Not surprisingly, the bible-bashers were on the case and said it was “normalising same-sex relationships” and threatened to boycott. Her character exited the show in 2010 when Robbie headed to the US for auditions.

4. SHE LANDED A MAJOR ROLE IN THE U.S IN JUST UNDER A YEAR

After she landed in the US, she scored a role on Pan-Am alongside Wednesday Addams herself, Christina Ricci. The show was intended as a Mad Men-style drama about sexy stewardesses on Pan-Am and was set to be hit. It had everything going for it - great writers, successful and intelligent women to the forefront who are battling injustices of the time, everything. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled at the end of its first season. Robbie played Laura Cameron, a young stewardess who becomes a minor celebrity after she's photographed by a major magazine. The role didn't win her any awards, but she was praised for her strong performances.

3. SHE'S BROADENING HER ROLES ALREADY

Even though she's only starred in three high-profile productions to date - Wolf of Wall Street, About Time (she was in something like five seconds) and Pan-Am - she's eager to escape type-casting. She's wrapped on two films already, one a period drama with Kristin Scott Thomas and Michelle Williams and the other a comedy with Will Smith. Yes, Will friggin' Smith. Like we said, she's going places.

2. WELL, LOOK AT HER

Look, she's very pretty. We can't go this far without acknowledging the fact that she's very, very pretty. So yeah. She's hot.

1. SHE'S GOING TO BE IN FOUR FILMS OVER THE NEXT TWO YEARS AND PROBABLY MORE

According to iMDB, she's lined up Violent Talent with Garret Hedlund and Ray Liotta. That's written and directed by Matthew Michael Carnahan of The Kingdom and World War Z fame. She's then starring in a period drama called Suite Francaise with Michelle Williams, Kristin Scott Thomas and Ruth Wilson. After that, she's got a caper-comedy called Focus with Will Smith. Not bad for somebody who was on an Australian soap three years ago.
