The Jonah Hill/Channing Tatum starring big screen adaptation of popular 80s TV series, 21 Jump Street, is garnering great reviews ahead of its Irish, and US theatrical launch this Friday.

The film currently has an extremely high approval rating of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is almost never heard of for films of this ilk. The high brow likes of New York Magazine are calling it "strangely compelling," while Time Out New York chimed in, spewing it was a "viciously satirical, unapologetically crude buddy comedy." From the critics here in Ireland I've heard mixed things; I know Roe McDermott from Hot Press hated it, but Gavin Burke gave it three and a half stars.

I missed the critics screening, but I'll certainly be heading along at some point before opening weekend to see it regardless.
