The Q Award winners made themselves known yesterday at a ceremony taking place in the same vicinity as the CBI conference (attended by UK Prime Ministers A and B) - that being in the surroundings of London's Grosvenor House Hotel.

As a result, The Sun have gone with a story involving the award attendees being vetted by MI6, which isn't really that exciting. For example, here's the pinnacle: "Security was seriously tight. Macca (AKA Sir Paul McCartney) must have been sweating with his record. He got in big trouble for helping the Give Ireland Back To The Irish campaign and he was jailed for ten days in Japan in 1980 after being caught with cannabis."

In saying that, Sir Paul did have a touching speech when accepting the award for Q Classic Album (Band On The Run): "Linda was getting slagged off for being in the band. I was getting slagged off for letting her in the band. But we finally got it together on this album. This one's for Linda."

Other guests included Kat Slater on a demure day (she likes to give the slap a rest some times, play's 'avoc wiv 'er skin ovverwise); Paulo Nutini's fringe which had him blinded for most of the affair (although he did enlist some headwear to help him with that later); a wind up version of Nadine Coyle; Fearne Cotton; Charlotte ChurchMark Ronson's girlfriend, everybody; Plan B en route to his car showroom; Tim Burgess - who's starting to resemble my kindergarten teacher Miss Burgess. Yeah Miss Burgess if she had a sexually ambiguous love child with Wally of Where's Wally fame who went on to enjoy poetry reading around the Haight Ashbury area of San Francisco; Sandy Shaw in half a kimono; Katy Perry's ex pretending there was nothing happening this weekend; and, eh, Best Act In The World Today, Kasabian? As for the other winners...
