We thought something was awry when it was reported that Mischa Barton contacted the LAPD yesterday to help her with a "medical issue". Wouldn't you call and ambulance? This is probably what the police thought as they've gone and sectioned her against her will.

According to WENN: "Access Hollywood claims that detectives were called to the star's house to assist with a "medical issue" and placed her under an involuntary psychiatric hold, also known as a 5150. Authorities can hold a person against their will only if they present a danger to themselves or others or suffer from a mental disorder. A patient can be held by the hospital for up to 72 hours if they are believed to be in danger. Karen Rayner, a representative for LAPD, said that they are "currently assisting" Barton. The OC actress's spokesperson Craig Schneider later told People that the police were only present to protect the star from the media."

Mischa's sectioning obviously meant she couldn't attend yesterday's premiere of her latest film (yes, she's still working), Homecoming. The New York Post had reported that "Barton would attend the premiere after we'd been assured by publicist R. Couri Hay that producers 'Bingo [Gubelmann] and Austin [Stark] are hand-holding her from 4:30 to the premiere and through to the after-party at PinkElephant, as she realizes the film is important to her.' Stark said, 'She was really professional and worked hard. It's a shame she can't come out and promote the movie. She did a great job'."

Yeah, your mental health is a wee bit more important than being wheeled around a premiere by two producers. But hey, great PR for the film, though! Every cloud... I wonder does Heat feel in any way weird about their front page last week, which was emblazoned with "MISCHA OUT OF CONTROL", and less than flattering photos. Who are we kidding, they're probably patting themselves on the back for their prophetic skills.
