... OK, and Pearl Lowe. But besides her, Gavin Rossdale does appear to have a thing for the famous bottled blonde. There's his current wife, Gwen, Courtney Love (allegedly), Marilyn... Not Monroe, unless it was a past life, no, Marilyn from the 80s. This Marilyn. And it wasn't just the once off, apparently they dated for, oh, a mere five years.
All this has come to the fore now that Boy George (who also had a go off Marilyn in the 80s) has released his memoirs. According to The Mirror:
"Boy George exposed Gavin's fling, which was with the cross-dressing 80s singer Marilyn, in his autobiography, Take It Like A Man. In the book, Marilyn said that Gavin was 'the love of my life' after apparently being together for five years. Gavin has now spoken out about the saucy claims, explaining he didn't talk about his fling with a man out of fear. Gavin told Details magazine: 'I think at the outset there was a sort of fear - that was right at the beginning of Bush (insert expected quip here), and I didn't want it to be part of it. It felt like a cheap shot, so I was like, 'I'm not getting involved. I've never wanted to appear closed about it. It's not something I've talked about really. It's just one of those things - move on. When you're 17, Jesus Christ, I don't think there's anything strange about any form of anything - you're learning about life. It's a part of growing up. That's it. No more, no less'."
Agreed, but five years is a bit of a long haul, innit? 17 to, oooooh, 22-years-of-age. Hardly a fling?! But that's none of our business. As Gavin says, "move on." He clearly has... That probably explains why he insisted on making a name for himself under a band called Bush.
