McGregor may play Lumiere the candlestick in Disney's live-action remake of 'Beauty and the Beast' but don't ask him to pick the original character out of a lineup because it turns out he's never actually seen it.
The 'T2: Trainspotting' star sat down with Stephen Colbert last night to talk about both movies and was deliciously honest with the host on a variety of subjects, not least the fact that he has never seen the original animated version and had pretty much no idea what he was stepping into when the casting call came along.
That must have been one nice Disney paycheck.
He also addressed the ongoing "controversy" about the sexuality of one character in the film, cutting Colbert off when he began to ask the question by saying "There’s lots of gay of sex in it... there’s A LOT of gay sex in this cartoon. And I think if you live anywhere near Alabama, you should not go and see this film. What would Jesus think?"
He then reverted back to his normal BS-free mode by restating that LeFou is 100% a gay character, saying: "It’s just like... he’s a gay character. It’s 2017 for fucks sake."
Just when you think it isn't possible to love someone anymore...
