The news broke last night that Anne Kirkbride had died aged 60 from cancer... We didn't really know her, yet she was woven into the fabric of our living rooms for over four decades.
We'll remember Deirdre Barlow for her love of pottery, her unwavering dedication to a questionable daughter, her variety of belts and array of eyewear, her wild dalliances with the likes of Mike Baldwin and that escort fella, and - most of all - her stuffed marrow...
