Shia LaBeouf has always had a novel way of not drawing attention to himself, because he's just a regular guy who likes the odd several sociables, you know? In the past, he's spoken about being all Oedipal for his ma. Not that he was drawing attention to himself. More recently, he ripped off a graphic novel in a short film before penning an apology in the skies above LA. He wasn't drawing attention to himself then either. Then he announces on twitter that he's retiring from 'all public life', flies to London, and headbutts some dude in the same pub he had a few issues in before. And so on.
Last night, in Berlin, Shia attended the film premiere of Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac sporting a brown paper bag on his head. It was emblazoned with the words "I'M NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE." Because that's how you don't draw attention to yourself.
The Transformers star seemed eager to make a statement just an hour after storming out of a press conference for the movie.
When asked if it was uncomfortable filming sex scenes for the movie, Shia let his co-star Stacy Martin answer first. After hesitating for a moment, the rough-looking star, who happened to be missing a bottom tooth, then quoted retired French soccer player Eric Cantona's famous words to answer unwanted media attention: "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much."
He then walked off stage much to the amusement of Stacy... because Nymphomaniac is a film that requires more controversy.
He couldn't possibly be overcompensating for something, could he? That has to be the only viable reason, because, clearly, he's not one to draw attention to himself.
