Rose McGowan has responded to the statement released by the family of her former manager Jill Messick, who tragically took her own life last week.
Messick's family released a hard-hitting and emotional statement describing her death as 'collateral damage' in the fallout of the Weinstein scandal, and that she had struggled with "seeing her name in headlines again and again, as part of one person's [i.e. McGowan's] attempt to gain more attention for her personal cause". They claimed that the pressure of " inaccurate accusations and insinuations against Jill" acted as a trigger, and that her mental health - she battled depression and bipolar disorder - suffered because of it.
Now, the actress has responded to the statement with a post on Instagram that read: "For Jill: May your family find some measure of solace during this pain. That one man could cause so much damage is astounding, but tragically true. The bad man did this to us both. May you find peace on the astral plane. May you find serenity with the stars.”
