Fair play to Robert Pattinson. In his first post-Kristen interview with Jon Stewart, (sorry, I just LOVE saying 'post-Kristen') the actor managed to strike that perfect balance between saying as little as possible on the subject while at the same time poking some much needed fun at his current situation, further testament to his unyielding charm. I was expecting him to look like sh*t, given the circumstances but DAMN single suits him. Check out these Cosmopolis premiere pics; I literally don't think he's ever looked better. *wipesdrool*
Back to the interview. Despite being a very private person, R-Patz had no problem laughing along with the unavoidable questions saying: "I didn't hire a publicist and every awkward interview, most actors have things scripted. I'm going to hire a publicist."
He even giggled when Stewart told him to "kick her to the curb". Can you imagine Kristen Stewart watching this?
Getting straight to it, Stewart kicked off with: "So, what have you been up to?" Visibly thrown by the host's direct question, R-Patz joked: "I thought we'd already prepared this. I had a joke prepared. I was all set up and ready to go. Now it's meaningless."
Then in a move only a pro like Stewart could pull off, he produced two tubs of ice cream saying: "We're just a couple of gals talking. Tell me everything." The Cosmopolis star yet again dodged Stewart's question saying: I'm trying not to eat this as I'm going to split my spanx. I'm double spanxed."
Try as Pattinson might, Jon Stewart had no intention of letting up: "So what are we doing here? I'm worried about you. Are you alright?" "I literally don't know how to approach this now," said the Twilight star.
In Stewart's last ditch attempt to squeeze him of info, he said: "The last time I had a bad break-up, Ben & Jerry's got me through the tough times, so I thought you and I could talk about things... Boy, you are better off without. Kick her to the curb... When you are young and you break-up, it feels like the world is ending but this is the first time I have actually seen the world react that way. It’s insanity... So here is my wish for you, that you get to handle your business in your personal life and I wish you all the best."
And with that meaningful sentiment, the conversation moved on to the topic that nobody really cared about, the upcoming Cosmopolis.
