After reports leaked to the British press claimed that Peaches Geldof died from a heroin overdose, the inquiry into her death today revealed that heroin was only 'likely' to have played a role but could not categorically be named as the cause of her death.
The toxicology results presented today showed that Geldof had the drug in her system, with Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham telling the hearing at the inquest today that after an initial post-mortem was inconclusive, further tests revealed: 'Recent use of heroin and the levels identified were likely to have played a role in her death.'
Peaches' musician husband Thomas Cohen returned home concerned at not being able to contact her and found Peaches at the end of a bed in a spare room. Police found no traces or evidence of drug use in the home upon investigating at the time.
A full inquest is now set to take place on 23 July.
